Welcome to our Life Group study from the book of Matthew!

In conjunction with this Easter season, we are inviting everyone to follow the footsteps of Jesus, not only to look at His example but to realize His promise that this is the life He wants to live in and through us. We like to say that the Christian life is not just about imitation but inhabitation!

Paul said this is the key mystery of the Christian faith, “Christ in you the hope of glory.” (Col. 1:27) He also says, “I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I, but it is Christ who lives in me and the life I now live, I live by the faith of the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.” (Gal. 2:20)

I believe your life will be transformed as you look at what Jesus went through as our representative and substitute and how He wants to live that life through us.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

A. Become even more grounded in the story of Jesus.

The challenge is to read and reflect on the gospel of Matthew on your own. Read

the 28 chapters of Matthew in the next 28 days or take the challenge to read all four gospels to see how the story is expanded upon in Mark, Luke, and John as well. You could complete all four books by reading an average of 3 chapters a day.

B. Share the journey with the spiritual companions in your life group.

With their help come to a life long, life changing revelation of how the life Jesus wants to live through you will be expressed in areas such as temptation, taking a stand, facing suffering and betrayal, overcoming heartbreak, and ministry.

C. Memorize one key scripture a week from Jesus' life.

A suggested memory verse will be given each week.

D. Serve as a part of some team.

Help unreached people be touched by the life of Jesus through our Easter services.

E. Identify experiences Jesus had that He wants you to have in the next 40 days.

Examples could include: baptism, infilling of the Holy Spirit, praying for the sick, inviting others to become His disciples and showing them how.
